Dawn was taken on Hatamin Island , Flores , in the Komodo region of Indonesia . This photograph shows a restored coral reef, only three years old, now mainly composed of colonies of the genus Acropora .

Through this image, Martin Colognoli reveals the capacity of living things to regenerate when given favorable conditions. Some species present here can achieve a growth rate of approximately one centimeter per month , showing a reef in full reconstruction, at once fragile, dynamic, and full of hope.

Before this restoration effort, this area was nothing but a desert for marine life. Today, the reef is once again a vibrant, structured, inhabited space. Aube embodies this pivotal moment: the moment when light returns, when life resumes, when the coral begins to build again.

With Aube , the artist continues his photographic work around coral as a territory of beauty, resilience and revelation, between sensitive observation, field engagement and attention to the rebirth of life.
