It shows a coral colony captured at very low tide , in that brief moment when it emerges from the water before being covered again by the sea.
Through this image, Martin Colognoli reveals a rare, almost suspended moment, where the coral seems to exist between two elements. Neither completely underwater, nor fully exposed to the air, it appears in a fragile and silent transitional zone, where its presence becomes even more palpable.
This artwork invites us to contemplate the coral reef in a state of extreme vulnerability, but also in a singular beauty. The coral becomes a witness to a subtle balance, dependent on natural cycles, tides, light, and the conditions that make life possible.
With Between Two Worlds , the artist continues his photographic work around coral as a territory of beauty, fragility and revelation, between field observation, visual emotion and attention paid to the thresholds of life.
